“My voice is my passport. Verify me”

A couple of years back I decided that I wanted to get more into voice acting, having dabbled with it in the past but not really pursued it much past a few bits and pieces here and there, a couple of voiceovers on commercials, that sort of thing.

I enlisted the help of a sound tech I know to help me put together a professional voice reel and we knocked out a commercial reel in about a month including prep time and booking studio.

From mid-2017 onwards I booked roles in three games in the Elder Scrolls franchise, providing the voice for one major character and additional dialogue for others, plus a few random non-specific NPCs here and there. It was exciting being in one of my favourite franchises, not gonna lie.

In 2018 I landed a role in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, playing one of the Scorestreak announcers (the British guy), so the chances are that if you’ve played that game, you’ve heard my voice! This was an even bigger deal as I’ve been playing the COD games myself for years and finally being in one was absolutely amazing and almost like a dream come true!

In 2019 I accepted a role in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, doing the MoCap for the character Ian Blake, so I’ve you’ve played that mission, it’s me!

Not only this, but I have another game coming out in the near future, so stay tuned for info on that. This one is easily the biggest role in a video game yet for me and I’m incredibly excited to finally announce my involvement once the NDA is lifted.

The takeaway from this is that if you set your mind on something, and you really and truly want it enough, you can do it. The biggest obstacle to your own success is you. So whatever it is you want to do in your life, you can do it with enough perseverance, courage and determination.
